This is sort of an iconic picture of Joshua Tree National Park, except that it contains none of the plants the park is named for. But you will see scenes like this all through the park. We went this time to see the Spring blooms, one of which (the yucca plant) is captured in the lower left corner. Above the scene is a contrail of a jet flying over this place which has not changed in centuries.
Hidden Valley was, as legend tells us, the place where cattle rustlers would hide their critters until the law stopped looking for them. Though it doesn't look like it, there is food for the animals here and hidden springs for water.

Fossil skeleton (cast?) of the dinosaur Nigersaurus, on display at the National Geographic Society in Washington, DC. Nigersaurus was a plant-eater, with an unusually shaped mouth and teeth, who lived in the region of modern Niger in the middle Cretaceous period, 119-99 million years ago.

Baby Magnolia Leaf

Seen on a Fraser Magnolia at the Animal Habitats. The wind interfered and wiggled the leaves around. I probably should have set the ISO higher to get a faster shutter speed; 1/60 seconds obviously wasn't fast enough. I liked the contrast of the different greens on the young versus old leaves though.
