If you look closely in this image, you will see little "specs" all over the place. I know what you're thinking, "that's just noise!" but you would be wrong. Those specs are the actually me capturing particles of the experimental CTX Time Rover beginning to dematerialize as the time travel process initiates.

It simply can't be noise because the 7D sensor is perfect at ISO 6400, so my timing must have been just perfect because this process only takes a few nanoseconds... :)

Now, where's that pesky Iguanodon?!?

CP259 Live Oaks and Spanish Moss

Walking and playing in Forsyth Park.
MIT mini-reunion July 2011 in Savannah, GA.

From Wikipedia:
Quercus virginiana, also known as the southern live oak, is a normally evergreen oak tree native to the southeastern United States. Though many other species are loosely called live oak, the southern live oak is particularly iconic of the Old South.

Spanish moss (Tillandsia usneoides) is a flowering plant that grows upon larger trees, commonly the Southern Live Oak or Bald Cypress in the southeastern United States. It closely resembles its namesake (Usnea, or beard lichen), but in fact it is not biologically related to either mosses or lichens. Instead, it is an angiosperm in the family Bromeliaceae (the bromeliads) that grows hanging from tree branches in full sun or partial shade.

It ranges from the southeastern United States (as far north as southern Virginia and eastern Maryland) to Argentina, growing wherever the climate is warm enough and has a relatively high average humidity. It propagates both by seed and vegetatively by fragments that blow on the wind and stick to tree limbs, or are carried by birds as nesting material.

The aptly named staghorn coral inhabits the Great Barrier Reef, the Caribbean islands, the Bahamas, and the Florida Keys. It is critically endangered, although you wouldn't know that on the GBR. Here, staghorn coral is rather plentiful, although global populations have declined by 98% due to diseases, hurricanes, increased predation, and bleaching. It depends on how fast I type what the lenght of the story will be.I wished I had payed more attention in highschool when we where thought Typing blind and with all our fingers.

The photo reminds me of "The Deep South" (being the southern states of the U.S of A ) the coloured man - behind or in front - of the gate. The vicious dog - behind or in front of - the gate.Who's watching who here? The man was part of a team of two who where being busy trimming the trees alongside this fence.Branches where hanging over the road and the road had to be made ready for inspection by the "inspector for industrial buildings".It was a huge line of trees and the guys said they'd cleared all the trees in an hour.I was amazed.Especially because there's no workman wasted on me.

SEM image of a Cymbelloid diatom, genera unidentified.

Diatoms are a type of microscopic algae that consist of one cell or a group of cells; Diatoms produce a hard silica shell that is often preserved after the animal dies and sinks to the sea floor. Scientists are able to extract diatom shells and use them to investigate past climates.

"The chief features of the picturesque grounds are the broad central walk, 96 feet wide, and 2660 feet long; the arcade of iron trellis work, and the rosery around, placed on a mound; the two grand fountain basins with the stone arcades; and the lake at the bottom of the gardens, with restorations of extinct animals upon its islands. These restorations are intended to give as accurate a notion as can now be formed of those animals, whose bony remains have been found fossilized in various ancient strata, the Hylaeosaurus, Megalosaurus, Tclithyosaurus, and other monsters, with forms as ugly as their names, which lived in lakes and swamps in the age of reptiles. Ichthyosaurs were sleek, dolphin-like creatures that lived in the dinosaur era. Like modern dolphins, they breathed air, but unlike dolphins, ichthyosaurs were reptiles. Ichthyosaurs are probably my favorite extinct animal.

This fossil was found in Dorset, England; in the ichthyosaurs' heyday, England was a warm, shallow sea, home to a large population, and its clay sea floor preserved and fossilized many ichthyosaurs.

Smithfield - Dublin

A few nice animal abuse images I found:

Smithfield - Dublin
animal abuse
Smithfield is an area on the Northside of Dublin. Its focal point is a public square, formerly an open market, now officially called Smithfield Plaza, but known locally as Smithfield Square or Smithfield Market.

Notable landmarks include the Old Jameson Whiskey Distillery and the Observation Tower (now closed).

The area is known for the historical Horse market which is held on every first Sunday of the month. However, the city council is continuing with its efforts of trying to move the centuries-old horse market out of the area, with many new residents to the area, including those from the facing Smithfield Market apartments, especially uncomfortable with its atmosphere, noise, perceptions of animal abuse and neglect, and occasional bouts of violence amongst a minority of animal traders.

Although the Smithfield Horse Fair continues to draw heavy and sustained criticism from a wide range of sources, including An Garda Siochana, and the Dublin Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (DSPCA), legal difficulties in closing down and/or moving away the market, coupled with its centuries-old heritage, have left the city council and the horse fair defenders locked in an ongoing battle without any clear resolution ahead.

Timber Rattlesnake (Crotalus horridus)

It is a species of venomous pitviper and is one of only two venomous snakes found in Wisconsin.
Generally, this species is found in deciduous forests in rugged terrain. During the summer, gravid (pregnant) females seem to prefer open, rocky ledges where the temperatures are higher, while males and non-gravid females tend to spend more time in cooler, denser woodland with a more closed forest canopy. Their prey is mainly small mammals, but may include small birds, frogs, or other snakes. Although capable of consuming other rattlesnakes, the most common snakes they eat are garter snakes.
Potentially, this is one of North America's most dangerous snakes, due to its long fangs, impressive size and high venom yield. This is to some degree offset by its relatively mild disposition. - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crotalus_horridus

Fisher (Martes pennanti)

It is a medium-size mammal native to North America. It is a member of the mustelid family, commonly referred to as the weasel family. The fisher is closely related to but larger than the American Marten (Martes americana). The fisher is a forest-dwelling creature whose range covers much of the boreal forest in Canada to the northern fringes of the United States. Names derived from aboriginal languages include pekan, pequam, and wejack. It is also sometimes referred to as a fisher cat, though it is not a feline. Fishers are omnivorous and feed on a wide variety of small animals and occasionally fruits and mushrooms. They show a preference for the snowshoe hare and are one of the few predators able to hunt porcupine. Despite their name, fishers seldom eat fish. - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fisher_%28animal%29

I hate wasps. Im allergic to some types of wasps and hornets so i tend to stay clear, and it was a real nerve thing trying to get close enogh for this photograph - i Confess I held the camera out at arms length and used auto focus :)

Yet i love the way this turned out - the wasp in the center seems to be staring right at me.

Now of course I have to work out a way to kill the bloody things.
